Acupuncture
In California, acupuncture is regulated by the California Acupuncture Act, in collaboration with the California Acupuncture Board, under the Department of Consumer Affairs. California requires acupuncturists to have formal training at the master's degree level, and to pass the state's licensing exam. At Shizue Hayashi Ito Acupuncture, treatment is offered for a wide range of conditions that acupuncture has an established background with. While the National Institutes of Health currently holds consensus that continued higher quality studies need to be done, the research appears to show that acupuncture is promising for musculoskeletal conditions (osteoarthritis, myofascial pain, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.), menstrual related conditions, infertility, asthma, headaches, and more. If you are curious if acupuncture can help your condition, please contact us for an initial appointment.
`Herbal Formula Consultation
Traditional Asian herbology is arguably the most advanced systems in the world for herbal healing. Herbal formulas that artistically combine several ingredients to address each person's unique situation is one of the hallmarks of traditional Asian medicine.
Many sources will tell people to consult with their healthcare provider before trying herbs. One of the best types of informed healthcare providers on this topic are licensed acupuncturists. Navigating the world of herbs is a huge task and should not be done without a skilled expert.
Shizue is a highly trained herbalist with many years of herbal prescription experience, for a vast range of health complaints, in both Japan and the US.
Mixed Treatment Modalities
Other therapies, besides acupuncture, have a long history in Asian healthcare. These other modalities can be used alone, or in combination with acupuncture. They are an excellent option for those who are unsure about using needles.
Other services available include:
Cupping Therapy (pictured above): Involves creating a therapeutic negative pressure on the skin. Often used for musculoskeletal, menstrual, digestive, and immune related conditions.
Auriculotherapy (ear seeds): An acupressure technique where small pellets are taped to acupressure points on the ear. This can be a remarkably powerful treatment for many conditions.
Massage/Shiatsu/Acupressure: Traditional Asian medicine's form of therapeutic body work and manual techniques.
